A new podcast to enjoy: the Just in Time podcast

There are times when you don’t want to learn something new, debate serious political and social issues, learn about history, or dive deep into business and tech news. There are times when you just want to turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream, as a wise fellow once sang, and if you want to be amused and surprised in the process, I suggest to you the Just in Time podcast.

It describes itself as:

Three broke stoners with a hint of geek discuss everything from movies, comics, sports, random everyday life, and embarrassing personal stories.

Please note that in their sentence construction, there’s no everything from blah-blah to blah-blah, and that’s correct for this podcast; there is no to, no specific destination or goal. Instead it’s a winding and rambling road, or as one of the hosts, who calls himself Milly Van Nielsen (also the name of Dane women’s competitive tennis player from the 50s) explains it, a  “rabbit hole.”

Norman Blunt and Redkorn join Millie, and they sound like two or three guys sitting around and having a conversation while getting high, and I’m fairly certain they achieve the effect through the authentic experience, so the path of conversation can go from logical to Salvador Dali in an instant.

There are subjects, however, generally movies and games and pop culture figures, so most people will have some common ground.

Who are these guys?

The first time I listened to this podcast (I just picked it randomly) I was struck by how I knew so little about the hosts or why they were podcasting. Somehow that made it even more interesting to me, to pick up clues along the way about who these people are. (I have the impression they work in the food service industry.) And when they referred to the show as a “rabbit hole,” I thought a song of mine called “Yours to Keep,” so I made an intro for the podcast from it, and I try to update the clips in it every so often.

Have a listen.
